Please share your thoughts on what the difference is between being a nudist vs. being a naturist. Do you describe yourself to others only as one or the other? If so, why.

Personally I always call myself a naturist, if anyone is unsure what I mean I tell them a good nudist. To me naturist means as its name implies back to or part of nature and natural living, a nudist is someone who just takes their clothes off to cause a stir or an exhibitionist. If, as a naturist we could follow are desire we would be nude all the time, but there are such things as weather and protocol which can affect our way of life.

I introduce myself as a nudist because I dont' want to have to explain the difference and they understand that term more.
Bottom line....naturist is a love of freedom and being naked is a way of freedom and life.
Its really a shame that S-- and the word nudism have come to mean that you liked to be naked and screw your brains out. That pervs have invaded any nudist related sites solely in the search of s--. That even on this site one of the ads promotes a nudist site and the model has her panties pulled up to her knees and shows her coochie.
Don't get me wrong, I am naked all the time that I can be, but being naked doesn't even come close to making me aroused. But when the circumstances change I'm there for sure. But being naked is not a prelude to S-- for me, its the way I live.

From what I have found out in the short time I have been looking into the practice of naturism/ nudism, I have to believe that nudism is simply the practice of being without clothes not pertaining to any activity so to speak, just being clothes free. Naturism on the other hand is about experiencing the outdoor life and activities with other like minded people in the nude as well as and more importantly the acceptance of the human body in all it's forms and shapes. I believe thats why there is no s----lity implied or tolerated in public places by naturists. s----llity in groups is mere exhibitionism, vouyerism and nothing more than an orgy I M H O. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but they have their place.
Right now I have to consider myself a nudist, as I am unable to practice outside of my home. When I finally make my way to a naturist resort of some kind, then and only then can I call myself a praticing naturist when I have had the chance to stand in front of Jim, Sally, Fred and Nancy and carry on a conversation or join in on a game of water volleyball, or simply lay out in the sun next to 40 other people doing the very same thing.

However nonsensical, indoors I am a nudist and outdoors I am either a outdoor nudist in the pool area and a naturist while hiking in the woods..
Best Wishes, Jim

`Call it what you wish, nudist or naturalist.
Being naked shouldn't imply to s--.
I've had discussions with some who were convinced otherwise.
Idiots.

I prefer to be a nudist because it says what I am with my lifestyle, short and simple. I have found that most people confuse naturist with naturalist. There really is a difference with that. The naturalist loves to watch birds, I don't.

`Nudist kinda says it short sweet and simply for sure. I have found that over the years the public impression has lessened as well and it is generally acceptable to declare yourself as a nudist.

`nudism is just the general person who likes to be naked. A naturist is someone who likes to be natural. This implies nude, as well as eating all natural/ organics, and some even fight for protecting earth. i'm more in the middle. I love to be naked, but i also love to eat all natural food.
